Norkum provides certified welding for structural and mechanical work across the North Shore and Greater Boston — on-site or in our shop. Certified welding means a welder qualified to a recognized standard, such as AWS D1.1 for structural steel, producing welds that can be inspected, documented, and traced — not a training-class claim.
We weld equipment-support steel, rooftop dunnage, custom frames and hangers, and the structural and mechanical connections that carry load. Our team is OSHA 30 trained and holds a master sheet metal license, and we keep the documentation that code-critical work depends on.

Documented to pass inspection
On Massachusetts commercial projects, structural steel welding falls under building-code special inspections (IBC Chapter 17) — connections like moment frames, base plates, and bracing typically require independent sign-off from a Certified Welding Inspector. Welds without the right qualification and paperwork can stop a job. We work to qualified procedures and provide the records so inspections clear without surprises.
Because we also fabricate, we can shop-build and certify support steel and frames before they reach the site — less time welding in the field, and assemblies that arrive inspection-ready.
