Norkum Mechanical designs, installs, and services commercial HVAC for buildings across the North Shore and Greater Boston. We deliver the work to plan, spec, and schedule, with one crew accountable from design-assist through commissioning.
Most of what we do is replacement and new install in occupied commercial buildings: rooftop units, split and VRF systems, ventilation, and controls. We join early, flag equipment lead times and constructability before the drawings are final, and commission what we install so it performs from day one — not after a winter of callbacks.

Commercial HVAC in Massachusetts runs under the state's current building and energy code, with the commercial Stretch Code (IECC 2021 / ASHRAE 90.1) now adopted by the large majority of cities and towns. New and replacement equipment needs a load calculation, code-required economizers and energy recovery where they apply, and often a duct-leakage test at final inspection. We install and document to those requirements so the job passes.
The state's 2050 climate law and Mass Save's current incentive plan are steadily moving commercial buildings toward electrification — heat pumps and VRF — and away from new fossil-fuel equipment. We help owners and GCs weigh code-current options, including systems that qualify for commercial incentives, against the realities of an existing building.
